Liverpool based trio All We Are played their biggest London show to date this week at Oslo in Hackney, supported by the equally talented Chelou. All We Are have fast been creeping onto music lovers radars with their addictive psychedelic, R&B, Soul sound, and on Tuesday night revellers had come to witness why. Recently remixed track ‘I Wear You’ by Childhood frontman Ben Hopkins and brother WU LU, has provided All We Are with even more well deserved attention, with the dreamy track sitting firmly on our must...

With the October nights in London growing ever increasingly drizzly, cold and all around miserable, it was a welcomed night to attend Jack Rocks @ The Macbeth on Thursday, in the heart of Hoxton, Shoreditch. Jack Daniels, in association with Spotify and NME, is taking over music venue the Macbeth, to play host to a series of live music events from bands big and small, as well as workshops and Q&A’s. In front of just 250 fans, we managed to bag tickets for the one-off gig, to see...

Last year’s remarkable showdown enlightened us with proof that a festival of such a vast size and population could endure without the raw aggravating grime of outdoor mud, limits on personal hygiene and incessant urges to binge the weekend experience away. Set in a magnificent indoor venue well within the borders of one of culture’s capital metropolises, the Pitchfork Paris Music Festival is once more guaranteed to bring a provoking and cultural atmosphere to an international crowd of twenty-thousand indie fans and there’s still time to become a...

With the release of his debut full length album Built On Glass (Downtown Records/Future Classic) earlier this year, 2014 has seen Chet Faker’s profile steadily rising. The Brooklyn-based Australian singer & producer has received millions of streams on his Soundcloud page, and millions of views for his videos. He just released his latest video for current single “Gold.” The eerie video directed by Hiro Murai plays upon the idea of desire and dysfunction featuring siren-like rollerskaters on a dark highway coaxing the viewer to the end of the line. Chet...

Disclaimer: if you want an album of breathy declarations, your journey with SBTRKT might begin and end with his self-titled debut. The post-dubstep pigeon-hole must have gotten too small because the Young Turks producer has taken a playful departure from the norm in an unexpected collaboration with Ezra Koenig. Koenig’s punchy vocals dip and dive audaciously, never getting too comfortable in one range. There’s a surprising amount of focus on the automated lyrics, with SBTRKT razing down production to essential percussion. Meanwhile, there’s been a switch up in those...

Let’s throw everything we ever imagined about mysterious beat-maker Slow Magic out the window. After seeing his live set last Thursday at Electrowerkz, London we have a completely new vision of the guy behind the tribal, neon mask who put on an unpredictable, raw performance at the gloomy, underground venue. Arriving on stage shortly after 11.30pm, Slow Magic stood before a crowded room filled with twenty-something-year-old hipsters, performing live with an array of equipment including, drums, laptop, and MIDI controllers. Fans were treated to an hour-long electrifying show, kicking off...

FKA Twigs is everyone’s new favourite pop star. From her extraordinary style to her ethereal sound, she’s a jack of all trades and master of everything too: she writes, directs, sings and dances. Her most recent release is the video for breathless single, ‘Two Weeks’. Resplendent in a luxurious palace, the camera zooms out to show her surrounded by multiple versions of herself - just a small insight to her zany, but cool aesthetic. Following the success of her sell-out show at ICA, London in June, FKA Twigs has...

Did you see the stylish kids in the riot? Not only did we see them, but we were amongst them, and what a fucking comeback riot it was. The British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park kicked off to a disappointing start with organisation falling a bit short.  Crowds were left waiting for bands such as Swim Deep, as the Barclaycard Theatre closed due to technical difficulties. A bit of a shambles all round. However spirits did not appear dampened as the rain diminished and the build up to one of...

There was alot to live up to with their homecoming in Leicester. Kasabian’s front men Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno, expressed that this gig at a sold-out Victoria Park would be one of the biggest of their career. It was not only a gig to celebrate a number one album, but to also celebrate 10 years since their debut album was released. Thankfully it lived up to the expectations. The mix of old and new is central to Grimes’s work, as he fuses elements of good old southern hip hop with the new age of electronic dance music. From his 2012 debut EP ‘Grapes’, which included remixes from Shlohmo, Salva, and LOL Boys, to the international club anthem ‘Trap On Acid’, and his recent bootleg ‘Mercy’ remix collaboration with LA based producer Salva, Grime has risen from almost complete obscurity to the world stage in only a few years. Hailing from Melbourne Australia, Nicholas Murphy aka Chet Faker is best known for his gritty, soulful-yet-seductive voice, an insane beard and undeniably cool persona; rapidly becoming a music blog star thanks to his minimalist late-night interpretation of Blackstreet's 1996 R&B hit, "No Diggity" in 2012, which was featured in a 2013 Super Bowl commercial for Beck's Sapphire. Faker’s music falls between subtle, languid, soulful, chilled tempos to electronic-house with an upbeat rhythm thanks to a collaborative EP with fellow countryman Flume. The Aussie national won many awards last year including...

Last Thursday, Basing House was subjected to an influx of curious fans who came to see 26-year-old London based electronic producer, TOURIST, aka. William Philips. This was the final leg of TOURIST’s first UK tour, which unsurprisingly was a sold out event. Kicking off his set with new tracks from latest EP ‘Patterns’, he eased the crowd into instrumental, electronic, sun-dazed beats and melodies. The self-taught pianist was keen to show off his skills, and stood behind an impressive array of production equipment, from drum pad, keyboard, to mixing desk,...
