25 Mar Introducing: RÜFÜS
After rising from obscurity and following the release of their latest EP ‘Desert Night’, Australian trio RÜFÜS are currently embarking on their ‘Almost World Tour’ taking the ‘Almost World’ by storm. A battle against an existing US trademark on the name RÜFÜS means they are known as RÜFÜS DU SOL in the States. Regardless of legality, they are a name you want to know. Whether it’s an inventive remix (check out their latest remix of Foals ‘My Number’ with Booka Shade’s ‘Charlotte’) or the infectious beat of their own ‘Desert Sounds’, this indie-dance trio’s sound will struggle to leave your head.
3 years since forming and the release of two EP’s on their own label, Jon, James and Tyrone are stages away from when they started writing on rainy day in Byron Bay. As their popularity continues to rise, RÜFÜS have now performed at sold out venues in both Australia and the US, most recently performing at the renowned SXSW festival.
Although their debut album Atlas will not be available worldwide till mid 2014, fans in Australia and New Zealand have been lucky enough to experience the record before the rest of the world and propelled it forward to steal the No.1 spot on the Australian album charts.
RÜFÜS offers us ‘music to make you dance’ and so far, they haven’t disappointed with their recognisable indie-dance tunes, that no matter how chilled, offer a beat that your feet can’t deny.
Ahead of the release of Atlas, RÜFÜS will be heading to the UK in April, playing headline shows in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, and Glasgow.
