Music We Love: Odesza

Since their first release, Summer’s Gone, Seattle-based electronic production duo Odesza have been making waves. After some of their tracks reached the #1 spot on Hype Machine’s Popular chart, they caught the attention of various big-name publications, including Interview and Vice, with the latter describing their EP, 2013’s My Friends Never Die, as “being full of hip-hop grooves and sunshine”.

Sun Models is their latest release. It features vocals from Madelyn Grant, whose dreamy voice, along with Odesza’s distinctive production, gives the track an inescapable summer feel. Catchy percussion, solid melodies and synth-based structures are all to be found here; basically, the ideal music for taking the mind away from a cold, grey English day, conjuring up thoughts of warmer climes and better days.

Despite the duo’s fast-growing popularity, they are still offering free downloads of their music via Soundcloud and their website. Odesza are currently touring America, and will be playing some summer festivals — the sort of place that, without a doubt, their music was made to be played — including Coachella on April 19th.
