New Music: Women to Watch

FKA Twigs

FKA Twigs’s popularity has grown steadily but surely since the release of her first EP in 2012 making her both a music and fashion favourite. Alongside her ethereal voice and experimental sounds, she accompanies her songs with powerful and provoking visuals. Her depth as an artist is shown through the clear consideration and importance of visuals to coincide with her music, creating well rounded works of art. With her unusual name, intimately stunning visuals and stand out vocals, FKA Twigs becomes our first woman to watch.

Say Lou Lou

Australian and Swedish twin sisters, Elektra and Miranda make up the electronic pop duo Say Lou Lou. And yes you read right, these sisters grew up in both Australia and Sweden with parents from both countries; maybe that’s what makes them so cool. With a cover of V Magazine’s music issue under their belt these girls have been embraced by the fashion crowd and show no signs of stopping; with a new single due for release in May (and hopefully an album later this year), we’re eager to hear what’s in store from the cool Kilbey sisters.

BEA

Put BEA on your list of up and comers for 2014. The mysterious singer uploaded her first track ‘Breadwinner’ onto Soundcloud earlier this month and within 10 days, it received 20k plays. Her eerie yet sophisticated vocals define and lead her dark yet wonderfully calming first track that leaves us wanting more. However, right now little is known about the elusive singer, merely adding to the excitement and interest surrounding her music and next moves – make sure you don’t miss out.
