Review: KlangKarussell Live – Cargo, London

We were pretty stoked to hear that our favourite producers, Austrian house duo KlangKarussell aka Tobias Rieser and Adrian Held would be doing a live set at an early twenties favourite haunt, Cargo, London. Knowing that they would’nt be performing on stage until 9.30pm, we eased our way into the intimate brick clad room, with no idea who or what the support act was. Set against the woozy purple and blue hues of beaming lights, with a small live band set up, this was an intimate gig space with a sense of exclusivity about the show.

Kicking off with instrumental tracks, which almost mellowed the music down preparing the audience for the main attraction. With camera and snapchat ready phones lunged into the air, came the electrifying performance of ‘Sonnentanz’ with live vocals from soul singer Will Heard. With his alluring vocals to the already soulful melody, the crowd roared with excitement, and rightly so, as one of the hottest tracks from the balerics last Summer was being played live with explosive drums, ferocious bass and an intense, dazzling light production.

Klangkarussell’s latest single ‘Netwerkz (Falls like rain)’ closed the show, which was extremely up-tempo, bass driven, with raging synths. A perfect end to an incredible evening. With overpowering cheers erupting from the crowd its quite clear that everyone had a memorable night. After the show, the band hung out until the early hours, chilled out, mingling with fans, epitomising Klangkarussell’s cool and collective laid back persona. (9/10)
