Sony World Photography Awards 2014

On 30th April, the leading global photographic award ceremony, the Sony World Photography Awards will come to London. The awards, which began in 2008 celebrate, support and cultivate the culture surrounding photography. Talented photographers from around the world take part in annual competitions with a chance of being discovered at the awards. From beginners to professionals, any member of the photographic community can enter a competition.

Attending the ceremony and gala will be international industry leaders and a tribute to a master photographer, through the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award. The shortlist for the awards has already been revealed, with photographers from 166 countries submitting a staggering 140,000 images, which has been recorded as the highest number of entries in the history of the awards.  With images commenting on the human state, nature, politics and travel, each photograph has captured not only a passionate image, some within a split second, but the passion the photographer has not only for their art, but for their inspiration.
